Rev. Sylvester Lang


NRev. Sylvester L. Lang

Rev. Sylvester L. Lang is a native of Brunswick, Georgia. He was educated in the Glynn County School System. He is married to Rev. Gloria J. Lang, an Associate Pastor at St. James AME Church in Savannah, Georgia.

Rev. Lang has worked for over twenty years as a pipeline contractor and locator for Houston Pipeline and Georgia Natural Gas. He worked for over seventeen years with developmentally disabled individuals and slid into retirement as a valet at Memorial Hospital Pre-Surgery Testing Center.

As a servant member of St. Paul AME Church-Brunswick, Georgia and Trinity AME Church-Bridgeton, New Jersey he held a number of positions in various organizations that enriched his spiritual development. He answered the call to ministry while serving at Trinity AME Church in Bridgeton, New Jersey. He joined St. James AME Church in Savannah, Georgia in July 2004 after moving to Savannah, Georgia; he now serves as an Associate Pastor.

Rev. Gloria Lang


Associate Pastor



Rev. Gloria J. Lang was born in Gainesville, Florida but was raised mostly in Brunswick, Georgia where she met and married her husband, Rev. Sylvester L. Lang, an Associate Pastor at St. James AME Church, Savannah, Georgia.

She was educated in the Glynn County School System and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Savannah State University.

Rev. Lang has worked as a Pre-School Teacher and with developmentally disabled individuals and slid into retirement as a valet at Memorial Hospital Cancer Center.

 

Rev. Lang was baptized at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Brunswick at the age of nine. Believing that a family should be united in their worship of God, she joined St. Paul AME Church with her husband. Being a faithful servant of St. Paul AME Church-Brunswick, Georgia; Trinity AME Church-Bridgeton, New Jersey and St. James AME Church-Savannah, Georgia has prepared her for ministry. She now serves as an Associate Pastor at St. James AME Church in Savannah.

EARLY LIFE

Rev. J.T. Musgrove

JT Musgrove entered McEachern High School in 1967. He started playing football, basketball and track & field while in the 9th grade. He lettered in all 3 sports for all 4 years of high school.  He received the Cobb County champion from 1974-1975, the regional champion from 1974-1975 and Sub Regional champion from 1974-1975. He was selected as 3rd place in the State in 1974 and he received the high school State champion in 1975. the mile relay champion & he broke the school record and was on the sprint melody relay record, He was on the 440-yard relay team that broke the McEachern High School record in 84.4. He was also the state champion in the 440 yard and broke the school record in the 440 yard and was the regional champion in the 440 meters.


As a result of his accomplishments, he received a 4-year track & field scholarship to Middle TN State University in Murfreesboro, TN. In 1976, he won the Ohio Valley Conference 400 meter indoor. In 1977, he broke the 400-meter indoor record in 47.2 seconds. He also broke MTSU 600-meter indoor school record, the Ohio Valley Conference record for 600, Ohio Valley Conference for 400 meter and the Relay team 400 meter and the mile relay record.  He was captain of the track team from 1977-1979 and was on the all-conference team from 1978-1979.  As a freshman, he qualified for the 1976 Olympic trials in the 400-meter dash but pulled a hamstring in the semifinals.  In 1980, he qualified again for the Olympics, but the USA boycotted the summer Olympics.  He still holds the 600 meter and 1600-meter relay records at MTSU.

He received a Bachelor of Science in Education with a minor in Coaching. He is one of the original charter members of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.


JT resides in Lexington, KY, with his wife, Renee’ Law Musgrove. Together they have a blended family of 6 children, 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Exhorter Pam Gordan


Exhorter Pamela C. Gordon is a native Savannahian. She received her education from Chatham County Public Schools. She is a graduate of Savannah State College(University) where she received her Bachelors of Arts in Social Work. She attended Capella University where she received her Masters Degree in Social Work and Community Services. Exhorter Gordon has been a member of St. James A.M.E. Church all of her life. She has served on several boards and continue to serve on a number of boards in the church. Exhorter Gordon comes from a large family of teachers, preachers and other professional occupations. She is married and have one child.
