ABOUT OUR PASTOR
Pastor Anthony Scott
EARLY LIFE
Pastor Anthony R. Scott, Sr.
Anthony Scott was born in Savannah, Ga. to the late Janette and Herbert Scott, being the third of four children (Kent, Michael, and Angie) and a stepsister, Linda Cody Hall. I was educated in Chatham Co. Public school system, graduating from Beach High School and matriculating at Savannah State University, majoring in Civil Engineering Technology. I began my professional career becoming a drafter at a local civil engineering firm, Thomas and Hutton, at age 16 and was employed at Gulfstream in Design Engineering for 30 years.
The Holy Spirit has enabled professional opportunities and was blessed to be the first formal Black Engineering Manager, reporting to the Vice President, and responsible for the corporate Gulfstream Engineering Process Manual. This position has afforded much experience of domestic and international travel to Ireland and Israel to see other cultures and know God from other perspectives.

ANSWERING GOD'S WORD
Arriving at St. James AME Church
Spiritual development was nurtured at St. Philip Monumental AME Church from toddler to adulthood in the Sunday School, YPD, Usher Board, choirs, Alter Boy, and Jr. Steward Board. In 1989 the call to preach was answered and followed in 1991 with the Ga. Annual Conference accelerating the status from preacher to the office of Deacon with the first church assignment New Hope-Guyton. Other pastoral assignments include St. Luke-Savannah, St. Peter-Savannah (Interim), ministerial staff at St. Philip Monumental, and St. James-Fleming, Jerusalem– Brooklet and Taylor Chapel–Savannah.
On April 6, 2018, an Anointed assignment was made appointing Rev. Scott as Senior Pastor of Historical St. James AME Church in Savannah. It continues to be a blessing to exercise gifts of God and see the manifestation of His presence impacting the lives of people. Rev. Scott is married to Taundra where they are blessed with a “We Fit” partnership and greatly enjoys the weekly date night. He has four children: Latina (Darien), Wendell (Kamila), Antonette (Derek), and Anthony Jr. As a constant inspiration, his grandchildren are a delightful legacy: Donovan, Isabella, and Amir. Our newest addition will be in October: Derek Junior ( D.J).
